Year 7 Student

Before I started Year 7 I attended St. Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School in Kenton. I felt really anxious about St. Gregory’s, even though a lot of my friends were starting with me. The Year 7 transition page on the St. Gregory’s website really helped me to understand how secondary school works and I was able to recognise some staff from the videos. Some staff also came in to visit us in Year 6, they spent some time answering any questions that we had. This made me feel much less worried for the transition to St. Gregory’s.

On my first day I felt really nervous but excited too. As soon as I walked in the gates my nerves disappeared. The teachers had smiles on their faces and were really welcoming to all of us. Starting secondary school can be a very daunting prospect but St. Gregory’s has made it very easy to settle in. Everyone here, whether it’s an older pupil in the corridors or a teacher in your lesson they are more than happy to help with any questions or any directions we many need. I feel very lucky and proud to be a part of the St. Gregory’s community. I can’t wait to see what the rest of my time here brings for me.
