Community Outreach and Engagement

Community outreach and engagement are essential expressions of the Catholic mission of St Gregory’s. As a Catholic school, we are called to live out the Gospel by serving others, working for justice and contributing positively to the world around us. Our commitment to outreach reflects our belief that faith must be active and visible, encouraging students to recognise their responsibility to love their neighbour and to respond to local, national and global needs in line with Catholic Social Teaching.

Students at St Gregory’s are heavily involved in positive community action, helping them to put faith into practice. Our Maranatha Choir sings each year at the annual Kenton Lights evening, sharing joy and building connections within the local community. Our students also take part in litter picks in the local park and wider community, demonstrating care for their local environment. In addition, our students promote the use of public transport and have actively raised awareness of the need for traffic-calming measures in the local area. These actions reflect key principles of Catholic Social Teaching and highlight our responsibility as a Catholic school to contribute positively to society.

We place great importance on welcoming families into the life of the school and providing opportunities to share worship and cultural experiences together. Throughout the year, families are invited to celebrate Mass with us, including our Year 7 Welcome Mass, as well as liturgies during Advent and Lent. Our annual Cultural Evening also provides a joyful opportunity for families to come together in celebration. These shared experiences strengthen relationships between home, school and parish.

St Gregory’s has a deep and sustained commitment to charitable giving and social action. Nationally, we support the Catholic Children’s Society and our own school food bank, The St Greg’s Pantry, which provides practical support to families within our local community. Internationally, we support charities such as Mary’s Meals and CAFOD, helping those in need across the world. These initiatives reflect our commitment to the principles of Human Dignity and the Option for the Poor and Vulnerable, encouraging our students to respond generously to injustice and need.

As members of the Westminster Diocese, we take our diocesan responsibilities seriously and actively engage with initiatives promoted across the diocese. Students and staff have participated in events such as the Pilgrims of Hope Liturgy at Westminster Cathedral and have engaged with the Call to Action initiative led by Pax Christi and the Society of St Vincent de Paul. Through this involvement, our school community demonstrates solidarity with the wider Church and a shared commitment to peace, justice and service.

Through outreach, worship, charitable action and diocesan engagement, we at St Gregory’s seek to live out its Catholic mission in a meaningful and impactful way. By forming students who are compassionate, socially responsible and committed to serving others, we continue to strengthen our role as an active and faithful member of both the local community and the wider diocesan family.
