Catholic Life

Chaplaincy at St Gregory’s

Chaplaincy plays a central and vital role in the life of St Gregory’s, supporting our students as they grow academically, personally and spiritually. As a Catholic school, we are committed to accompanying every young person on their faith journey, helping them to explore their relationship with God, deepen their understanding of the Gospel, and live out their faith in everyday life. Our chaplaincy provision offers guidance, prayer, reflection and pastoral care, ensuring that all members of our community feel supported, valued and encouraged in their spiritual development.

The Chaplaincy Team at St Gregory’s is made up of Mr Michael Coughlan, our Lay Chaplain, Fr Brendan, our Priest Chaplain, and Miss Curley, Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for the Catholic Life of our school. Together, they work closely to plan and implement a rich and meaningful chaplaincy provision that is woven into the daily life of our school. This includes Celebrations of the Word, liturgies, Masses, retreats, opportunities for prayer and reflection, and spiritual support for students and staff. Their work is carried out with dedication, compassion and a deep commitment to the mission of Catholic education, and their role is essential in nurturing the faith life and wellbeing of our whole school community.

Our school motto, “Pro Deo,” “For God the best and the greatest,” is at the heart of everything we do, and chaplaincy helps to bring this motto to life. Through chaplaincy, our students are encouraged to live for God by serving others, acting with kindness and justice, and responding to God’s call in their own lives. Chaplaincy at St Gregory’s reminds us that faith is not only something we learn about, but something we live out each day, shaping who we are and how we treat one another as a Catholic community.
