Head Girl : Princilla
I started St Gregory’s in 2016, a few months into the school year and was incredibly anxious to begin with, I’d thought everyone would already have found their friendship groups and I would be left out. This could not have been further from the truth. While this was a challenging situation, immediately I was at ease after my first few interactions with kind staff and a welcoming community. At St Gregory’s you are met with enthusiastic teachers and dedicated staff members who show their support at all times.
St Gregory’s strives for academic success in students and goes to great lengths to enable students to recognise and achieve their goals. From after school and Saturday interventions to teachers dedicated to sharing time free with students to explain difficult topics, pupils here are given incredible support, especially those undergoing crucial exams such as A-levels and GCSE’s. The effort and dedication of our teachers resulted in the excellent grades our Year 11 and 6th Form students achieved in 2021 despite a particularly difficult year.
Furthermore, academic success is not the only area the school works hard to provide for students but personal growth and enrichment are also focused on. Clubs such as Maranatha Choir, Debate Mate and a wide range of sports are encouraged for students to develop confidence and teamwork. In addition, the school tirelessly provides support for students to compete in outside of school activities and competitions like athletics. We are encouraged to access a number of workshops where we are encouraged to take part in activities outside of our comfort zone. Namely the Jack Petchey Speak Out competition that I won with the support of my school.
I am in my final year of St Gregory’s and I cannot express the amazing time I have had here into a short piece of writing. The opportunities I have had, the people I have met and the day-to-day skills I have learnt have allowed me to grow and mature and shaped me into the person I am today. I am thankful for the time I have had here and will never forget the help and support I received from the school.
