Head Boy : Mark
I joined St Gregory’s in year 7 after leaving St Bernadette’s Primary School. Having been a member of the school community for over 6 years I believe St Gregory’s has much to offer and is supported by both a dedicated faculty and wider school community. These are accommodated by skilled members of staff who provide an avenue for students to enrich their educational experience and to define themselves as individuals. As students mature, opportunities to provide support to more junior pupils present a unique prospect to give back to the school community.
Speaking from personal experience, I believe that the enrichment activities available to St Gregory’s pupils are distinctive. Having participated in the Jack Petchey ‘speak out’ challenge I took the opportunity to discuss the significance of autonomy of thought as well as learning about the views of other members of the sixth form, and understanding their personal concerns and grievances. I feel that this experience provided me with the confidence to stand out and speak publicly about matters that are significant to my peer group as well as providing me with an understanding as to what it means to be a representative.
I believe that it is the dedication of the St Gregory’s faculty that has enabled St Gregory’s to maintain a reputation for maximising the potential of each student in respect of both academic performance and in fostering the growth of students as individuals. I feel that this has been one of the main contributing factors to my own academic performance.
I have been provided with many opportunities for new challenges and enrichment both within, and beyond, the academic sphere. I feel that as Head Boy, I have been given an exceptional opportunity to give back to the school and am a proud representative of the St Gregory’s community.
