16 to 19 TUITION FUND

The ESFA have established a 16 to 19 tuition fund to help mitigate the disruption to learning arising from COVID-19.

The funding is being provided to support small group tuition for students aged 16 to 19 years in English, maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted. Although the actual tuition does not need to be for GCSE English or maths, schools have been asked to prioritise support for students who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths and students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who have experienced additional disruption to learning, as a result of their specific needs and disabilities.

The money allocated to St Gregory’s from this fund is £9,429 and will be used to prioritise support for students who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths and SEND students (beyond the programmes of education we had already planned for 2023 to 2024).

This will be delivered by a mix of both teaching and learning support staff (who have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and experience). Tuition will take place after school, on Saturday mornings and during the school holidays.  Students will be taught in small groups that will not normally exceed five in number.
