ECONOMICS

Welcome to the Economics Department

Economics is delivered to students at Key Stage 4 and 5 by an experienced and enthusiastic team of staff. We currently have four teachers in the department. The teaching environment is business-like giving students the opportunity to excel in their studies whilst understanding the world of work. Our staff have high expectations of all our students and we have many excellent resources including interactive white boards, DVDs, videos and access to the Internet. Economics is taught at GCSE, AS and A2.

In addition to the excellent opportunities the students have whilst in school they also have access to a number of visits we undertake, including Lille, Bruges, China, Cadbury, Coca Cola, Bank of England, House of Commons, Downing Street. Our next trip to China is in October 2011 and we are looking forward to visiting our link school as well.

ALPS

This year the Economics department has a lot to celebrate particularly with regard to our results in the 6th form and the added value we were able to achieve with our students. This was recognised with our Alps scores of 3 for Business Studies.

Alps reports are a statistical analysis of schools’ A level, AS level or BTEC results and show a school how it is performing against a national benchmark. We are currently places in the top 10% of schools across the country.
