Welcome to the EAL webpage, we hope you are able to access information on how we work with students who are learning English as an additional language. Please feel free to contact us with any additional questions that you may have.
It is our aim to provide equal access to the curriculum for all pupils. To ensure this, we develop the necessary Academic English Language Proficiency of pupils entering the school with no or limited use of English. This is done through specialist teaching in small groups, classroom activities to explore Language functions and pairing pupils with the more able Mono-lingual, or, highly fluent Bilingual students. Our aim is to ensure that we meet the full range of needs of those children who are learning English as an Additional Language or Bilingual learners. This is in line with the requirement of the Race Relation Acts 1976.
