CAREERS

The Careers/Work related Learning programme at St Gregory’s enables students to develop the skills and knowledge needed to prepare them effectively for the transition from school in to the world of work/adult life.
Every student at St Gregory’s is given the opportunity to explore and learn about their personal strengths and weaknesses and develop the skills needed to pursue their future plans.
This is facilated by a programme of structured guidance at each key stage of a student’s school career.

  1. Year 8. Option choices at 13+ GCSE
  2. Year 11. Post 16 options A Level/Further Education/Employment.
  3. Year12/13. Post 18 options Further /Higher Education/UCAS/Employment

Support and guidance is further enhanced by the local Connexions service who provide St Gregory’s with two Personal Advisors who are based in the school 3 days a week. The connexions advisor is available during normal school hours and every student is given the opportunity to have a one to one interview. Connexions are able to provide confidential, impartial information and advice to enable students to make informed decisions about their future.

Students at St Gregory’s also have the opportunity to experience the world of work first hand in Year 10 by taking part in a planned period of Work Experience for two weeks in the summer term. Work Experience placements are also provided for students in Year 12 who are studying vocational qualifications.

The school also has an extensive range of resources which are available to students in the careers room and the main school library.
